Tattoo Aftercare

  1. Leave on your aftercare bandage for up to 4-5 days. It is normal for your fresh tattoo to get plasma inside the bandage (this is okay as long as it is not leaking out from the bandage). For best results, when you are ready to remove your bandage, do so in the shower. Run warm water over the edges and gently peel it off.

  2. Clean your tattoo in gentle, circular motions using warm water and an antibacterial soap removing all of the slimy plasma.  (Sidenote: Dial Antibacterial Soap or a gentle unscented cleanser only).

  3. Allow your tattoo to air dry completely.

  4. Apply a very thin layer of aftercare ointment. Emphasis on 'thin'! You want to allow your tattoo to breath! Too much ointment will clog your pores!  (Sidenote: NEVER use Vaseline or A&D ointment on your fresh tattoo. Aquaphor is okay. Tattoo specific aftercare ointment PREFERRED).

  5. Repeat steps 2 through 4 approximately 2-3 times a day for the next 5 days 7 days.

  6. After about a week, switch to an unscented lotion and moisturize your tattoo daily as needed. ( Sidenote: Lubriderm lotion)
